August 11th 2009 was a unique moment in Kishorit's life – The president of Israel, the Minister of Welfare and hundreds of Kishorit friends visited us and joined the laying of the cornerstone for the new building to our school.

Second, we were privileged to open our new nursing unit. This facility provides 24 hour nursing care for Kishorit’s elderly members or members in need of temporary specialist nursing care. As a result of our experiences during the last Lebanon war, the unit includes a large bomb shelter in addition to bedrooms and public areas. To date, 6 Kishorit members have moved into the facility and are receiving round-the-clock care.
The main focus of our lives here in Kishorit revolves around the occupational centers that employ Kishorit’s members. One of our most special branches is the free- range chicken coop that produces eggs. The eggs are eaten both here in Kishorit and are also sold outside - in the free market. As we develop the area of healthy food production at Kishorit, we have increased the range of produce we grow and already have 6 members working in the organic agriculture branch which incorporates the vegetable garden, free- range chicken coop, and the organic vineyard.
Our aim is to improve the current facility by both enlarging the size of the coop and relocating it to a larger site within Kishorit. In addition, like all of our enterprises here at Kishorit, we are working to create a business which is financially viable. In order to do this we have calculated that we would require an output of c.500,000 eggs per year. As we currently have a license to produce 265,000 eggs per year, in order to meet this increased output we need to purchase an additional license from the Government allow us to supply 500,000 eggs per year.
Finally, we would like to share with you how Kishorit is coping with the global crisis in the financial markets. Whilst all areas of our lives have been impacted as a result of the crisis, the element that has been hardest hit is our beloved Pastel Toys wooden toy factory. The factory has been one of the crown jewels of Kishorit, supplying high profile customers including, GAP and Zara. Over the years, many of Kishorit’s members have benefited from the vocational training and creative outlet offered by working in the factory. Unfortunately, as the last fiscal year came to a close, we faced a big deficit in the toy factory due to the combination of the weakened dollar and the economic recession.
As we are sure you are able to see, the needs of our community inevitably exceed our resources. It is only with the ongoing interest and support of friends like you, who help make a difference for our members. We know that this is no small thing and we do not take it for granted
