Our History and Progress
ERAN was founded in 1971, by Maria Bert Zaslany, the wife of the late Dr. Arie Zaslany, a Jerusalem psychiatrist, at their home in Jerusalem. The ERAN Hotline provides emotional support via the telephone in Hebrew to over 140,000 callers each year. 1993 Russian language hotline added. 1995 Arabic language hotline added. 2001 Amharic language hotline added. 2003 Online internet service by chat, ICQ and email added. 2005 Hotline for the elderly added. 2006 Soldiers and youth hotline added. Over the years ERAN has expanded and now has 10 branches spread out throughout Israel, which are operated by approximately 1,000 volunteers.
