The Tel Aviv Sexual Assault Crisis Center seeks to provide emotional and practical assistance to victims of sexual assault on one hand and promote social change in the prevailing attitudes of the Israeli public, on the other hand.
The Tel Aviv Sexual Assault Crisis Center’s Activities Include: 24/7 hotline for sexual assault victims (separate lines for female and male), handling over 12,000 calls yearly • Ongoing one-one meetings • Support groups for victims of rape and incest • Escorting victims to hospitals, police stations and throughout judiciary processes • Providing support and seminars for professionals - police investigators, physicians, attorneys, IDF mental health officers, judges, school principals etc • Lectures and workshops in various populations (youth & teachers in schools, Social Service Units, prison inmates, etc.) and in places of employment on sexual harassment in the workplace • Lobby for changes in treatment of victims From the outset it was recognized that the Tel Aviv Center has several parallel roles: *Providing immediate crisis intervention services to adult women, men & youth * Raising public awareness * Initiating essential social change through extensive educational outreach programs
