SPCA Ramat Gan is on the verge of financial calamity - a cry for help
17/08/2011
The Israeli Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Ramat Gan and Vicinity has been working continuously for more than 67 years, operating a shelter and a network of foster homes for abandoned animals. Anyone who is familiar with our work knows we have no tendency towards unwarranted outcries – but our current situation leaves us no other choice than to beg for help. our very existence is dependent solely upon donations, and we are now 50,000 NIS behind. If we can’t close this deficit until the end of this year, THE SHELTER WILL BE CLOSED. It’s hard to imagine this might indeed happen after decades of work and thousands of saved lives, and yet it is indeed a viable threat and a painful truth. A few facts regarding our shelter: Our shelter is home to many abandoned dogs and cats, for whom we search loving homes. Since we NEVER kill animals, whoever doesn’t find a home can stay with us for weeks, months or even years. That is how we came to have an ever-growing number of beloved dogs and cats who have been with us for years. Amongst them are our beloved Tiki, who is still terrified of humans; Andy, who was terribly abused; Chafee, who was abandoned at her old age; Maggie. who needs ongoing medical care; Alpha, who has persistent dermatological problems; and Claude, a beautiful cat who was dumped in the garbage. THESE ANIMALS NEED US. THEY HAVE NO OTHER HOME. Our association has two full-time workers and a CEO, all working in minimal wages. The rest of the work is carried out by our wonderful volunteers, but our expanses are growing – and like every household in Israel, we are finding these expenses difficult to meet. Every year we spend more than 100,000 NIS for food and supplies for the dogs and cats. Another 100,000 NIS are used to keep the shelter in working condition, and more than 120,000 NIS are needed for veterinary treatments: medication, tests and surgeries. 50,000 NIS is a lot of money, but should not be an impossibility to raise. If each of us contributes just ten dollars, and asks our friends and relatives to do the same, we can make it together. All we need are 2,000 people with open eyes and an open heart. We know they are out there. Donations can be made in the following ways: * By phone, to Moran Cohen, director of the shelter: ++972-54-2031977 (If there’s no answer, please leave a message) * Using the secure site "Israel Gives", http://www.israeltoremet.org/amuta/580053296 * EFT account: SPCA Ramat-Gan, Bank Hapoalim, Branch 641, 66252 account (please give your details to the clerk, so we can send you a receipt) * Money order or cheque payable to SPCA, 4 Hafetz Haim Street, Tel Aviv 67441 * At the shelter itself * Donations from businesses and companies – please contact Danit Debra, Director, ++972-52-8359152 A few important things: * Donors will be sent a formal receipt. * We are a registered charity. * The association is recogniz

About Us
21/02/2011
About Us The Israeli Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Ramat Gan and Vicinity was founded in 1944 by Mrs. Greta Biran. Since the society’s establishment, its members have cared for hundreds of abandoned and neglected animals, providing for their medical care and daily welfare while simultaneously working to find them loving, adoptive homes. The SPCA Ramat Gan and Vicinity is a no- kill animal rescue. This is a unique, guiding principle of the organization. As a result, every animal that arrives at the society’s shelter is given new hope and a new life, regardless of age or health condition. In addition to the shelter’s diverse activities, the SPCA prioritizes the values of compassion, tolerance, and assistance for those in need. We highly emphasize community involvement, education and awareness activities, and assistance to needy populations through the profound connection of animals and volunteers. Adopt At our shelter there are dogs and cats of all kinds, sizes and ages: some were neglected as newborns, some are mature stray animals, some were lost and some were abandoned, some once knew what is a warm loving home- and some have yet to have this experience. We support our animals all along the way: give a hug, spoil when times get hard, and always- always promise that we will find the best adoptive home for them, even if it will take years. We welcome you to come and visit our shelter seven days a week, see our animals and ask as many questions as you wish. We believe that an adoption of a cat or dog can be the first step in a wonderful road that requires a great amount of responsibility but grants tremendous happiness. We know that sometimes it requires time and patience to get to know a pet and truly fall in-love. We give you all the time in the world. We would be happy to hear about all your dreams, goals and aspirations and advise you regarding the best pet for you. The shelter staff is available at any time to answer any questions regarding a specific pet, as well as give general guidance regarding the right way to choose and raise a pet. For more information about adoptions, please contact the organization’s shelter manager, Moran Cohen: 054-2031977, moran@spca.org.il Donate The Israeli Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Ramat Gan and Vicinity is a not-for-profit organization that is fully supported by donations. We do not have any large funders, and we are in need of donations of any amount, on a regular basis. Donations are first and foremost used to operate and maintain the shelter and improve the living conditions of the animals. Additional support helps the organization develop educational projects and models and drives the community to be involved with the society’s work and the values it promotes. The organization holds a proper approval of management, and recognition as a public institution for donation issues according to clause 46 for income tax order. We will be glad t
