Our History and Progress
In 1940, at the start of World War II, a young organization called jeunesses Musicales had been created in occupied Belgium. The idea was Marcel Couvelier's, Director of the Brussels Philharmonic Society. The aim was to bridge over nationality, religion and race using music as the most natural source, attracting youngsters to music and concerts and developing their musical and artisitc understanding. In 1959 the Israeli branch of JM was created, and Israel joined the JM Federation as member. Since then Youth and Music Israel has been continuously active and hundreds and thousands of quality activities and projects have taken place.
