The World Union of Jewish Students (WUJS) is the international, pluralistic, non-partisan umbrella organisation comprised of 35 independent Jewish student organisations based all over the world. The work of WUJS is split into 8 main areas - Representation and Student Voice; Convening and Uniting; Leadership development; Union Development; Campaigning; International Communication; Jewish Identity Development; and Social Justice.
As the Jewish community ages, there is a constant need to educate and instil passion within its most vital demographic - young adults of university age. WUJS is a preeminent provider of cutting edge activism training and development and participants consistently leave WUJS programs with their passion reignited and their skills enhanced.
A special survey in preparation for the 9th World Conference of JCCs revealed that JCC leaders around the world believe that their main challenge is to strengthen the connection of Jews to the Jewish People and the organized Jewish community. In a 2015 survey of past WUJS Congress participants:
- 97% of respondents agreed that their experience attending WUJS Congress made them feel a greater sense of belonging to a global Jewish people.
- 94% of respondents agreed that their experience attending WUJS Congress increased their motivation to continue working with Jewish students.
