Ma'aleh is a Jewish film school dedicated to exploring Jewish/Israeli issues on screen and to producing engaging, thought provoking and entertaining films of integrity, of the highest artistic and professional standard.
The Ma'aleh Film School has 160 graduates and has produced over 200 short documentary and fictional films. Our films are screened at international film festivals and TV stations worldwide, bringing to the screen some of the foremost issues affecting Jewish and Israeli life today. The films have won many awards.
In recent years, Ma'aleh films have been "discovered" as a vital educational and cultural resource, as short length and depth of content makes them excellent "trigger" materials. Ma'aleh films are acquired for this purpose in Australia, North America, Europe and Scandinavia.
In the next 2 years Ma'aleh aims to subtitle its best films into Spanish, Russian and other languages, in a drive to reach those Jewish communities most in need of vibrant educational and cultural materials.
The school's vision is to build a multi-disciplinary Jewish arts campus on its present site in downtown Jerusalem, for which it already has planning permission from Jerusalem city council.
