Our History and Progress
Our programs focus on five major areas: social and professional empowerment; children-at-risk; advocacy for equal resource allocation and accessibility; crisis intervention and strengthening Jewish-Deaf identity. Specific programs include Student Support Services, Individual and Group Deaf Mentor Programs, Storytelling in Sign Language, Standardized testing and licensing for ISL interpreters, Sign Language Courses and Assistance Entering the Work Force. We also hold the national tender to provide support services for all deaf and hard of hearing Israelis. Services facilitated include Sign Language interpreting, computer assisted note-taking and reimbursement for the purchase of vital equipment. Demand for these services is great, averaging nearly a thousand requests a month. Overall, our programs continue to make a tremendous difference in the lives of hundreds of deaf and hard of hearing individuals and, in fact, on Israeli society as it learns to fully accept these citizens.
