Our History and Progress
LOTEM: Integrated Nature Studies, a non-profit organization, was established in 1993 by Amos Ziv following a moving encounter with a group of visually impaired teenagers hiking in the Israeli countryside. Amos realized that in order to provide these special-needs hikers with the maximum benefit of activities in a rural environment, suitable and accessible activities were essential. Today, LOTEM offers outings, creative workshops and extracurricular activities to thousands of men, women and children with special needs throughout the north and center of Israel. Located on an ecological farm in the picturesque Emek HaShalom (Valley of Peace) near Yokneam, LOTEM is a magical hidden treasure in one of the most beautiful areas in northern Israel. By opening its doors to special needs populations, LOTEM presently serves 7,000 participants every year.
