After being approached by the local rehabilitation division of the municipal welfare office, we took upon ourselves to establish a special program for the inclusion of special needs children. Today we have 22 toddlers who are fully integrated into our daycare center. These children have a variety of developmental challenges including general developmental delay, speech and language difficulties, CP, and Downs Syndrome. These children receive all the necessary paramedical and support services within the framework of the daycare. Specially trained aides help to facilitate the child's full functioning in the daycare, and help encourage the child to reach developmental milestones. Supplying the child's paramedical treatments in the daycare is of tremendous help to the families, who no longer need to schlep their children to various appointments during evening hours. Our social worker helps families cope with the adjustment to having a special needs child within the family environment.
