The organization activates a shelter for women victims of domestic violence and their children. It aspires to provide physical and emotional protection for its residents, and to take care of the needs of the women and children who come to the Shelter
The Haifa Women’s Crisis Shelter aims to serve as a safe haven for women and children survivors of domestic violence; to foster a non-violent, friendly, empowering and supportive environment in which women are able to re-gain and strengthen their sense of self-esteem, control, and independence; to offer culturally sensitive services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to Jewish, Arab Israeli, and new immigrant women, in a setting which encourages respect for cultural diversity and forms a model for co-existence; to foster a learning and supportive environment for children witnesses and survivors of domestic violence; to outreach and educate students, professionals, and the community at large on issues regarding violence against women and children; to form alliances and coalitions with other Israeli women’s and human rights’ agencies to promote social change.
