Hundreds of students learning in the Sderot Hesder Yeshiva combine intense Torah study with Israel's army service. The students volunteer in many Hesed programs around the city helping the community and spreading Torah among the people.

Founded in 1994, the Yeshivat Hesder in Sderot is one of the biggest Hesder Yeshivot in all of Israel. With a student body of over 500 pupils from communities all over the country, the Hesder combines intense Torah study with Israel's mandatory army service. Over the past decade, students in Hesder programs across Israel have emerged as the most resilient and committed soldiers in the IDF and students from the Sderot Hesder are no exception.

The Hesder in Sderot is a true pillar in the community spreading a sincere love of Torah Zionism to the entire Western Negev region. In addition to the many hours spent studying in the Beit Midrash, our students demonstrate their commitment to the residents of Sderot through many volunteer projects.

While the Hesder was founded over fourteen years ago, the past eight years have been extremely difficult, with the daily Kassam rockets launched at Sderot from nearby Gaza. Despite the situation, the Hesder continues to grow from year to year.
