21/01/2010
On December 2, Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat visited the Beit Lazarus Computer Center in Talpiyot, Jerusalem. As part of his visit to the Beit Lazarus Community Center, the Mayor came to see how Machshava Tova is working with the areas underprivileged populations. Mr. Barkat received an explanation about the center's activities from center director Ornit Ben-Yashar. Ornit explained who the center's target populations are and what courses the center offers them. The Mayor also had a chance to speak to one of the children using the computer center and find out what the child was learning. The Mayor was pleased to see that Machshava Tova is helping to reduce societal gaps in Jerusalem through technology and its many uses.

What a Year!

2009 was a breakout year for Machshava Tova. In addition to opening three new computer centers and adding many new staff members, our activities increased dramatically. In 2009:
200 computer courses were taught to children, teens, adults and the elderly
3,800 underprivileged participants learned computer skills- an increase of 53% from 2008
8,000 overall course hours- an average of 800 hours taught per computer center (including two Mobile Computer Units)
As 2010 begins, Machshava Tova is looking to once again expand its reach and bring technology and its uses to thousands more. Towards that end, Machshava Tova has now opened courses in Immigrant Absorption Centers in northern Israel, added a full time marketing executive and is exploring working with new organizations to maximize our ability to reduce societal gaps in Israel. 2010 is just beginning…
