The Social Economic Academy (SEA) is an innovative alternative for social and public-consciousness change that enhances the impact of social movements on Israeli life. SEA believes that knowledge will encourage people to lead change.
Alarming data shows that there has been a 40% increase of employed people living under the poverty line in Israel over the last 20 years. One of the reasons for this situation was the lack of social economic public debate in Israel. The public in general and social activists in particular need to acquire social economic knowledge, information and tools to effectively act to change existing social-economic policy. They need to acquire better knowledge of how to deal with the state’s decision-making policies, how to demand government accountability, how to create workers' unions and how to cope with the authorities in order to stop social economic policies that resulted in a rising number of poor working people. Our aim is to provide the necessary knowledge and tools through intensive courses. The courses participants will use the newly acquired knowledge and tools to challenge these policies, to assist in changing its track and to create a more just society.
