Our History and Progress
Dropping out of school is a universal phenomenon on the rise. Young people without the structure and constraints provided by an educational institution are at greater risk for drug use, drug dealing, vagrancy, prostitution, and other criminal activities and behaviors. The extent of this phenomenon in Israel is frightening: there are approximately 150,000 teenagers at risk.
MENIFA began with 3 groups and 40 students. Today Menifa has 40 centers operating around Israel and has worked with approximately 1,000 students from different sectors of Israeli society, including students in religious and secular institutions and from Arab and Druze communities. The success rate for our program has been high. 95% of the participants return to normative educational and social institutions. Over 90% of participating students pass their matriculation exams.
