Tamara Meirovich, a deaf mother of 2 with vision loss due to Usher's Syndrome, was never comfortable relying upon a cane for mobility. After being struck by a car, she became housebound and wouldn't go out alone at all. Receiving her first specially-trained dog, Pepsi, changed her life, and she became independent again. She decided to become a dog trainer and train dogs for other Deaf-blind people so that they, too, could be independent. This desire became the birth of Ali Hope. In 2006, the training of the first 3 dogs began. In December, 2008, our first dog, Sol, went to live with her new owner, Yael. It has been a very successful partnership with Sol increasing Yael's mobility and independence greatly. We currently have 2 other dogs in training and 22 people on the waiting list to receive dogs.
