Tene Bruit is dedicated to improving the health of the Ethiopian Israeli community by providing culturally competent information on nutrution and healthy life style habits, as well as fostering an active health leadership from within the community.

Tene Briut's main activities include:
• Educational presentations to the Ethiopian-Israeli community in Amharic to spread awareness of a health promoting lifestyle and an understanding of diabetes and other “lifestyle” chronic diseases.
• Kol Labriut medical interpreting service over the phone. The service currently receives over 300 calls each month from health workers and social workers working with Amharic speaking patients.
• A fortnightly radio program in Amharic on health matters relevant to the community, broadcast by the Voice of Israel, listened to by over 80% (60,000) of the adult Ethiopian community.
• A program of supportive home visits to elderly patients with unstable diabetes by trained, Amharic speaking health leaders.
• Nutrition and Cookery Workshops for women, to create awareness of the connection between good nutrition, a healthy lifestyle and diabetes prevention.
• Advocacy activities through public and professional forums.
