Our History and Progress
Sviva Israel was founded in 2007, just two years ago, and in that short time the organization has run programming in 34 schools in Israel and four in the United States. In addition, it has impacted thousands more people in Israel and abroad through its hands-on and online environmental educational activities. Sviva Israel combines web-based programming with on-site education in schools and community centers. Programs include:
• The Eco-Connection - See our project.
• Eco Lights - an annual Web 2.0 Jewish Environmental event that activates thousands
of young people in 20 countries around the world.
• Young Environmental Women Leaders-YEWLs - empowering young women leaders with the
skills, tools and motivation to make a real change in their society.
• Lectures - Sviva Israel offers presentations and seminars for students, professionals and the public on the topics of Environmental Literacy, Challenges to Israel’s Environment, Judaism and Sustainability and
Sustainable Development.
