"My Truth" reservists speak up openly and with a firsthand perspective about their army experiences in response to those who attempt to slander Israeli soldiers in the name of so-called “full disclosure”. The organization started as a personal initiative by a few reserve soldiers, many of whom personally experienced combat fighting against the Hamas and other terrorist groups during operation Protective Edge in the summer of 2014. These reservists began their protest by posting their personal testimonies under the hashtag #My_Truth in Hebrew on social media, determined to get their stories out there. They have now grown into a nation-wide movement with thousands of supporters and are well-embedded in the Israeli consensus.
"My truth" operates in three main fields:
· International advocacy and educational work through the media and social media, international speaking tours, giving lectures and hosting tours and seminars in Israel.
· Educational programs for teenagers pre-army service and for soldiers on the ethics of war and the moral code that leads the IDF
· Collection and publication of personal testimonies of Israeli reservists and veterans.
The organization is unaffiliated to any political party in Israel and is comprised of reservists from across the wide spectrum of Israeli society.
