About IsraelGives.org
IsraelGives.org (IsraelToremet.org in Hebrew) is the central website for Israel’s non-profit community, and Israel’s national charity portal. At IsraelGives, you can search for and donate online to any of Israel’s 26,000 charities, and donations in U.S. dollars are always tax deductible in the U.S.
  • Search for any charity in Israel by keyword, category, city, region, activity, ethnic group, or religious group (note that there’s more information available on the Hebrew website – IsraelToremet.org) than the English IsraelGives.org site.
  • From the search results page, you can make a quick donate, or you can click through to the charity's mini-site. There you can read about the charity's activities, projects, updates, volunteering opportunities, and more.
  • If you find a cause you want to support, you can make a fully secured donation online. The donation is processed instantaneously, and you’ll immediately receive a tax-deductible e-receipt. You’ll also receive a free online account on IsraelGives that you can use to track your donations, print your receipts, read updates from your favorite charities, and record your volunteering hours.
  • Whether you donate or just want to get updated about your favorite causes, sign up to receive news updates from your favorite charities, either by email or into your IsraelGives account.
  • Register for a free IsraelGives account to track your donations, print your receipts, read updates about your favorite charities, and record your volunteering hours.

IsraelGives was founded by Yonatan Ben-Dor and Joseph Gitler, the developers of Table to Table Israel (www.t2t.org.il/english), one of Israel’s leading non-profit organizations. Joseph and Yonatan were exposed to the growing gap between the amazing non-profit organizations operating in Israel and people around the world, who would have trouble even hearing about such great and inspiring images of Israel. Since 2007 they have worked to bridge this gap, to help Israel’s non-profit community connect to people around the world. The result is IsraelGives.org

“IsraelGives.org is a natural step both for philanthropy in Israel and for our charitable sector”, says Yonatan. “People in Israel and from around the world would like to support Israel’s charitable organizations, to play a role in the country’s development. But without sufficient access to information about our charitable causes and organizations, without sufficient transparency, and without direct means of donating, donors will hesitate, and perhaps desist, from contributing to Israeli charities. And in a situation like this, everybody loses: our charities lose out on funding opportunities, and Israel’s supporters, at home and abroad, lose out on the opportunity to make a difference in the future of the country and the lives of millions of Israelis”.

IsraelGives.org is an innovative response to this problem, and a critically important service both for Israel’s charitable community and for donors and funders of Israel from around the world. It will help to bridge the gap between the charitable organizations building a better Israel, and the millions of people around the world who want to help them.

IsraelGives.org is a fundraising partnership between the IsraelGives Foundation, an Israeli non-profit organization, American Support for Israel, Inc., an American 501(c)(3) public charity, and Israel Toremet Ltd., an Israeli social enterprise which operates the IsraelGives.org and IsraelToremet.org websites.

Joseph Gitler is a graduate of Yeshiva University and Fordham University Law School. After making Aliyah in 2000, he worked for three years as director of international sales and development for a family software business. He founded Table to Table in 2003 after witnessing significant food wastage in Israel at a time of rising poverty. Joseph's vision and steady hand have led the organization from a simple, one-man operation to Israel's largest food rescue organization. He is married to Leelah, has four children and enjoys biking, traveling and spending time with his kids.

Yonatan Ben-Dor is a graduate of McGill University and Hebrew University of Jerusalem Law School. He made Aliyah in 2003 and joined Joseph in early 2004 after completing his army service. He has worked in the non-profit world for over a decade, and also worked as a community lawyer for Yedid (www.yedid.org.il), a leading community justice NGO. Yonatan founded the IsraelGives Foundation in 2007 and IsraelToremet Ltd. in early 2009. IsraelGives.org launched formally in July of 2009.
