Donate
today on IsraelGives.org
IsraelGives.org is the world's main website for donating to Israel. At IsraelGives.org you can search and donate online
to any of Israel’s 27,000 non-profit organizations. Your donation is safe, secure, and helps
support the organizations and causes in Israel you care about most. Search any of Israel's non-profit organizations by name, keyword,
category, or location. Read about its activities, "Like" it, and even sign up to
receive updates and news from the organization. And, of course, you can
make a donation to the non-profit organization of your choice.
On IsraelGives.org, all donations are US tax-deductible, and can be made
either online (by credit card) or by check or bank transfer. If
you donate online, you'll instantly receive by email a US tax-receipt for the full amount of
your donation. If you mail in a check, you will
receive
a tax receipt within a few weeks after the check is
received.
How is my donation
tax-deductible?
IsraelGives.org partners with American Support for
Israel (ASI), a US 501c3 public charity that helps you to connect to and support
non-profit organizations in Israel. You make your donation to ASI, and it then
"re-grants" your donation to the Israeli charity you recommended it be used for.
What are the different methods of
donating?
You can donate online through the IsraelGives.org
website. If you're able to donate to an organization in U.S. dollars, this means
that your donation is US tax-deductible. You can donate to any of Israel's other
non-profit organizations (we have 27,000), but only in Israeli Shekels (an
Israeli Shekel is worth about 30 cents). In that case, your donation will not be
US tax-deductible.
You can also donate by check
or by bank transfer. To donate by check, please mail your check
to:
American Support for Israel PO Box
3263 Washington, DC 20010
Your check must be made out to
"American Support for Israel" and should indicate in the "For" section of
the check itself the organization that you are recommending the
donation for. If possible, please write the
organization's ID number (it appears on their profile page and begins with 580)
instead of your organization’s name - it helps us to identify the organization
more easily (some organizations have similar names, but all have unique ID
numbers), and ensures that your contribution gets to them faster. See
an example of a
properly prepared check.
To donate by
bank transfer, please contact us by email and we'll provide you
with our bank account details.
What are the different ways
that I can donate on IsraelGives.org?
You can easily make donations
to multiple organizations at once through your "donation
cart". You can make one-time donations or set up a
recurring monthly donation. If
you
want to make a donation in
honor of or memory of someone, or on behalf of someone's birthday, or bar-mitzvah, or
wedding, IsraelGives will instantly send an acknowledgement by
email to the recipient of your choice.
See here what the e-card looks
like.
If
you'd prefer that your honoree chooses the charity that your donation should go to,
you can purchase a Charity Gift Card.
You select the currency and
sum of the Gift Card, and we will e-mail it, along with your
personal message, to the recipient of your choice.
The gift card recipient can then redeem the gift card as a donation to his or her favorite
charity - any of Israel's 26,000 non-profit
organizations!
Read more about the Charity
Gift Card.
We can also help you to
set up a donor advised fund
for bar-mitzvahs, weddings, memorials, and general charitable donating (we
create for you a fund where you or your guests can make donations, and then we
can help you and your loved ones to choose where the funds should
be allocated). Contact us to learn more about donor
advised funds with IsraelGives.
As part of the donor advised fund, or to
support a single organization, you can also create a personal fundraising page. See
here an
example of a fundraising page
for a Bat-Mitzvah fund.
How does the charity
receive my donation and what are IsraelGives' fees?
Funds are
transferred to the organization of your choice
generally within 4 weeks of when the donation is made. The funds are
sent to the organization, generally by bank transfer into the organization's Israeli bank
account. IsraelGives charges the charitable organization a service fee of 2.5% to help to
cover the expenses associated with running and managing the IsraelGives.org
website. Add to this the credit card fee (generally 2.2%), and approximately 95%
of your donation goes directly to the organization of your choice. Remember,
however, that you receive a tax-receipt for 100% of your donation
amount.
How many people are using
IsraelGives.org?
IsraelGives.org is the now world's main portal for
donating to Israel. Over 900 Israeli organizations use the website daily to
update their information and communicate with donors, and hundreds of donations
are placed every day, from donors like you in the U.S. and from around the
world.
