Foreign Tax-Deductible Fundraising

Half of the donations made to Israel non-profit organizations come from abroad. But donors can't make donations directly to your organization if they wish to receive a tax-receipt from their country. For that reason, many organizations work through partner organizations abroad, "Friends of" organizations through whom you can transfer your donations to make them tax-deductible for the donors (think of the PEF and other bodies like this).

Fundraising on the internet has the same demands: donors donations in U.S. dollars, Pound Sterling, and other currencies, want their donation to be tax-deductible. But how can you offer them a tax-receipt if you don't have your own "Friends of" organization, or if your partner organization don't accept credit card donations (like the PEF), or isn't set up to accept online payments?

IsraelGives offers you a very unique and important service. We have built partnerships with American and British foundations, so that all donations going through the IsraelGives donation systems in U.S. dollars and Pound Sterling is tax-deductible in those countries.

Who are your foreign partners?

In the U.S., we partner with American Support for Israel, a U.S. 501c3 public charity that helps raise awareness about, and funds for, charitable organizations in Israel.

In the U.K. we partner with UK Toremet, a British public charity that helps promote British philanthropy in the U.K. and in Israel.

How does it work?

First, you need to be eligible to work with our foreign partners. You can become eligible by meeting the criteria listed in your IsraelGives.org account (in the Profile - Financial Documentation section). Once you're eligible, donors will be able to donate to you in those currencies from the IsraelGives.org website and from your MYSITE forms.

When a donor makes a donation, he'll immediately receive a tax-deductible receipt from our foreign partner. You'll get a copy of the receipt, so you know that a new donation was made. The funds will be transferred to you from abroad, via IsraelGives, with your shekel donations, according to the regular transfer periods (see the questions and answers section for more details on this).

What ways can donors donate?

When your organization is approved to work with our foreign partner, you can fundraise online, and also by check and by bank transfer. Through American Support for Israel, your organization is also eligible to collect donations in Canadian Dollars (through the MYSITE system). Through UK Toremet, your organization is also eligible to collect donations in Euro (through the MYSITE system).

Where should checks be mailed to?
