	About the Project The Meals-On-Wheels program provides 80 older adults, (most of whom are Holocaust Survivors) with nutritional security. This is the only Meals-On-Wheels program in Be'er Sheva that provides fresh, hot meals delivered directly to our recipients. more Why this Project is important Older adults are of the most vulnerable when it comes to food security. Over 1/4 of all older adults living in Be'er Sheva are in need of nutritional security. Our organization is the only provider of a meals-on-wheels service in Be'er Sheva. Our other programs require individuals to arrive on location, while the participants in our meals-on-wheels program are physically unable to make daily trips to our restaurant. more What the project achieves Our organization delivers hot meals prepared daily to all of our meals-on-wheels program's participants. Everyday at 7:00AM our kitchen prepares fresh meals for all of our programs. The meals for the meals-on-wheels program are prepared seperately. This is done to make sure these meals are low-sodium and are as nutritious as possible to the needs of our older adults. The next step is delivery. Our refrigerated van then makes deliveries to each one of our participants. This is usually completed by 14:00. Although this program provides hot meals, it also gives us the opportunity to check in on each participant. If there is something that needs fixing within their homes, we get it fixed. If it looks like someone is in need of help, it is given. Our truck driver has been making his rounds (with the help of volunteers) for many years and knows personally each of our participants. The quality time spent with each and every participant is in some cases their only contact daily. more
