Our History and Progress
In 1999 a group of grassroots volunteers wanted to address the hunger problem in Be'er Sheva. That same year our Restaurant for the Needy served its first hot meal. This restaurant is still the only soup kitchen providing hot meals everyday with take away service for Shabbat in Be'er Sheva. The restaurant and kitchen have been essential in our fight against hunger and currently our kitchen provides hot meals cooked daily to over 300 people. After expanding our programs in 2004, education became our co-mission and the Gamal after school Program for youth at risk began. This program was developed to offer a group of youth ages 12-15 from the "Daled" neighborhood a quality program to help them academically, socially and emotionally. Currently the Gamal program serves three groups of youth ages 12-17 realize their dreams of a high school diploma and social change. These are not our only programs. Throughout the course of 10 years we have enabled over 10 programs to aid the needy.
