About the Project
IMPACT for Teens is an intensive, holistic course that boosts self-confidence & provides powerful verbal & physical skills that last for a lifetime. This full-power, team-taught course enables young women to stand up for themselves against violence.

Why this Project is important
According to the latest statistics, in Israel there are more than 30,000 Teenage Girls considered "At-Risk", a quarter of them under 16. Poverty, poor self image and marginalization, as well as violence in the home, makes them ripe targets for abusive relationships, drug & alcohol use & risk-taking behavior. At the same time, Israel is becoming a more violent society than ever . In 1980, there were 281 cases of assault per 100,000 inhabitants; by 2007, this number rose to 444. About one-third of all such cases during the 1990s were cases of domestic violence. From 1990-2007, domestic violence resulting in assault and grievous bodily harm jumped 157%. Schools are not immune . Approximately 15% of youth in Israel bring weapons to school. And more than 30% of students in Israel consume alcohol. The link between alcohol use and violence is well-established. These factors combine to tear away at young womens' potential to be fully productive citizens of a country that truly needs them.

What the project achieves
IMPACT for Teens is an intensive 16 hour team-taught course for a maximum of 15. The female team leader demonstrates and teaches verbal & physical strategies for preventing and stopping sexual, assault, harassment & abuse. The teens apply these strategies in realistic scenarios against a well- trained, fully-padded "attacker"/ male instructor. He encourages the teens to use all their strength and skill, providing them feddback and what is often is their first experience with a man who honors their power and right to defend themselves. We have brought this life-changing experience to hundreds. If we want to reduce verbal and physical violence in our society, we must reach hundreds more. We must provide At-Risk Teenage Girls with the ability to stand up for themselves- for their boundaries, for their safety, for their right to choose their life's course. Only through empowering our youth can we succeed in our mission of transforming Israel into a kinder, gentler, stronger societ
