13/12/2009
Team Connections is the endurance sports training and fundraising program, benefiting the Connections Israel organization. The program is a fantastic way to get in shape, train and join a great group of people who care about the future of Israel. Team Connections provides training for 10 kilometer races and half marathons. Team Connections members commit to raise money which helps alleviate the suffering of victims of terrorism in Israel. On March 18th 2010, Team Connections will participate in the Jerusalem Half Marathon and all proceeds will go to the families of Sderot.

Adopting an IDF unit
01/12/2009
Educating the next generation of Diaspora Jews about Israeli Soldiers strengthens the connections between Jews in the Diaspora and Jews in the state of Israel. It creates an emotional bond and a responsibility that often contributes to decisions such as aliyah, supporting the state of Israel and overall pride in yourself oneself and one’s fellow Jews. Our educational programs are designed for 3 age groups: Grades 1-4 Grades 5-8 Grades 9-12 The programs includes discussions, movies, and a call to action regarding the relationship between the individual / group and the fighting Israeli soldier. The call to action is usually done by having the children write letters or draw pictures to the soldiers. Then, the children create a fundraising event to sponsor holiday gift baskets ($10 each) that are sent to the soldiers. Each soldier receives a gift basket with a personal letter , picture and message of thanks for their efforts on behalf of our people. In turn your school will receive a large picture of the unit where your gifts and letters were sent as well as a letter of commendation from a high ranking official. “Connections Israel” has assisted over 300 Schools and communities in personalizing their own Adopt a Soldier program and we have set set a goal of implementing such a program in every Jewish school. Help us meet this goal !

Join Our Sderot Bat Mitzvah Project
01/12/2009
The Bat Mitzvah Experience Coming of age and joining the adult Jewish community is an event to celebrate and a moment to cherish for young women the world over. In light of our successful Sderot bar mitzvah project, http://connectionsisrael.com/sderot-bar-mitzvah-celebration, Connections Israel has been approached by the Sderot Department of Social Services and asked to create a similarly meaningful program for the neediest of local girls. Have your own “virtual Bat Mitzvah Experience” as you enable these young ladies to truly celebrate their Bat Mitzvah! “Travel” to Jerusalem and offer your own personal prayers and wishes at the kotel. Your notes will be inserted into the Wall by the girls who are expressing their own hopes and dreams. The girls and their mothers will tour the underground tunnels and be inspired! After visiting a few other special sites, “join” the party as our girls are hosted in Jerusalem for a celebratory party in their honor. These girls are hand- picked by the Sderot Department of Social services based on financial, psychological and familial need. Many come from single parent families; all have in some way suffered from the ongoing kassam rocket attacks – directly/and or indirectly; the families are on public assistance and some suffer from domestic violence. The Bat Mitzvah Experience is an opportunity to break the cycle; to introduce joy and meaning; to create bonds with local young Jewish women in leadership positions who will mentor these young ladies; to build positive Jewish identity through hands on activities and special memories. Be a part of it! Below is the breakdown of costs per child. Click here to sponsor. Individual and group mentoring on becoming a bat mitzvah and an adult member of the Jewish community: $150 Candlesticks and a siddur: $150 A new outfit and shoes for the bat mitzvah girl and her mother: $300 A Jerusalem experience – special visits and educational workshops: $250 Group celebration with music, dancing, and a festive meal: $150 Total cost per child: $1000 For more information and special requests contact us.
