Founded in 1989 the Family Nest project located in the challenged Israeli southern coastal city of Ashkelon helps young mothers who are in desperate, life threatening situations; such as; drug abuse, desperate economic state, and are referred to the "Nest" for rehabilitation, guidance and support towards a better and respectable life.
The daily Family Nest program is designed to create empowerment, individuality and self-confidence in order to assist the mother to become a better mom, and provide her children with a brighter future, refraining from the unfortunate cycle of physical and emotional abuse that all too often characterizes these desperate family units. The everyday challenges to cope with domestic violence, drug/alcohol abuse, single parenting, new immigrant families and low socio-economic problems are tremendous. The uniqueness of the Family Nest program is the ongoing and individual care that helps to transform a mother in need of support into a supporter (a companion)
