The Home was founded in 1976 and is licensed by the Ministry of Welfare for 48 independent and frail residents.
Ebenezer is a non-profit and relies largely on donations since most of the tenants are unable to meet the monthly payments. Ebenezer is the only old people's home in Israel that serves the Messianic congregations in Israel and includes Jewish, Arab and other gentile believers.
The Home provides all the needs of the residents from a physical, health and social point of view in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Welfare and also takes care of the spiritual well-being of the residents.
Residents are admitted into the Home after submitting an application form that includes socio-demographic details, financial capabilities, medical background and a recommendation from their congregation elder/pastor. The application is reviewed by an Advisory Committee to make sure they meet the criteria to be admitted to the Home.
The residents are asked to exhaust all their sources of income to pay the monthly payment which currently stands at NIS8,700 (rate for an independent resident). If the resident has poor means, the expectation is that the resident will seek support from family members, congregation and other sources. In any case, the Home will not reject the admission of a resident who cannot meet the monthly payment for a justified reason.
