Hiyot’s aim is conveyed by its name, “life” in Amharic. Hiyot is an Ethiopian Israeli organization that creates educational programs for Ethiopian Israeli children, youth, and adults in the Haifa district. Hiyot aims to empower Ethiopian Israelis

Hiyot operates after school programs and youth outreach centers for children and teens in Kiryat Yam, Kiryat Bialik and Kiryat Motzkin. These centers offer structured activities and community support in a nurturing environment, providing an enriching and enjoyable option during the unsupervised hours when children and youth would otherwise be lured by the crime and drugs present in the low-income neighborhoods where they live.
