The Muslim religion has progressive interpretations of religious thinkers that point to verses in the Koran and sayings of the Prophet Muhammad which grant many rights to women and support equality between the genders. These interpretations are concealed by society and the stream of the devout religious. Therefore there is denial and unawareness in society to great part of these rights, which is reflected in its patriarchal customs and values.
