Mininizing social gaps in Israel by means of technology

About the Foundation
In today's modern society, the digital divide affects vast populations and creates obstacles for educational and occupational advancement. Israel is a country on the cutting edge of the Hi-Tech world; however, the deep digital divide further widens social gaps and perpetuates social inequality. Machshava Tova was founded in 2003 by educators and Hi-Tech professionals in order to introduce the myriad of benefits the technological world has to offer to underprivileged populations. Machshava Tova views the digital divide challenge as a unique opportunity to offer underprivileged populations access to technology in a supportive and empowering environment. By providing opportunities for technological training, a whole world of opportunities uncovers, and new ventures are presented in employment and education. Integration in the modern world enhances self- worth and a sense of belonging. Thus, technology become a powerful tool that contribute to social inclusion and minimizes social gaps in Israel.

Machshava Tova provides enhanced technological access and training to underserved populations in:
1.Computer centers that are spread nationwide, usually located in poor neighborhoods.
2. Mobile Computer Units (MCU) that reach populations unable to reach our centers for various reasons: physical disabilities, cultural/religious restrains or people staying in shelters for victims of violence.
Each Center in operated by a devoted team of professionals, who ensure the compatibility of our programs with each group's individual needs and accompany the participants in their journey to success.

Machshava Tova offers basic and advanced training including hands-on experience for children, youth-at-risk, the unemployed, new immigrants, the elderly, minorities, the ultra-Orthodox community and disabled populations. Our first Computer Center was established in 2004 in Talpiyiot neighborhood in Jerusalem. Since then Machshava Tova founded additional Centers in Jerusalem, Lod and Kiryat Yam, which, in conjunction with our Mobile Computer Units, introduced over 30,000 people to the world of technology.

The impact of Machshava Tova’s activities and operation has been recognized and acknowledged throughout the years. A handful of the these recognitions include The Jerusalem Mayor’s Award, the Ashalim- Joint Award, and the Social Merit Award at the annual Sderot Conference for Social Issues. Machshava Tova is a recognized Microsoft and Cisco Academy, and gained the Midot Seal of Effectiveness.
