We are non-profit research Institute "Am haZikaron". We helped 45000 "Birthright" participants to learn their surname's origin and ancestors, reunited dozens of relatives lost in Holocaust & more. Borders, "Birthright" and us closed, we request help.

We restore continuous histories of Jewish families during many centuries helping people to find information on their ancestors and reunite with relatives that they long lost due to Holocaust or other events of the twentieth century. We demonstrated that Jewish families preserve their identity during many centuries so that people coming from the same clan have identifyable features that remain intact during centuries and differ from those of other clans. An example are professions where during centuries members of the same clan concentrate on three-five areas of activity.  The value of this research is stressed by our Endorsement Committee that includes more than fifty Nobel prize laureates from various areas. The results, that stress the unique role of each clan in the life of the Jewish people, are used in our educational projects that provide participants with the sense of belonging to many centuries old history of the clan. Our partners include the Jewish Agency for Israel, Prime Minister’s Office, “Nativ”, international educational project Birthright, Cultural Centers at Israeli embassies in the FSU, Genesis Philanthropy Group, international student organization Hillel, youth movement  Ezra USA and others. Besides mentioned work with "Birthright"  participants, we created website jewage.org that has about 300 000 profiles of of Jewish individuals, more than 30 000 users, many thousands of family trees, most of which were built by our users, and more than 43 000 papers on Jewish personalities. We also created educational youth program on origins of Jewish families culminating with a visit to places of origin of Ashkenazi Jews in Germany; and much more, see the more detailed description.
For many years the Institute made living thanks to collaboration with the Birthright program that depends on the possibility of young Jews to enter Israel. Today this program is closed and we had to close. If we do not receive immediate help we might lose our team and never reopen. As a token of gratitude for your help we would provide these gifts -
donors of 200 to 1000 NIS - certificate of origin for your family name
donors of 1000 to 5000 NIS -  certificate of family origin and short research of the history of your family with recommendations on how to continue the research
donors of 5000 to 15000 NIS -  certificate of family origin, short research of the history of your family with recommendations on how to continue the research and construction of statistics of clan members, including psychological portrait of the clan and clan professions
