We subsidize...
*Home repairs/improvements, buying of appliances.
*Nursery, primary, secondary school fees (between 33%-80%), and give modest grants to college students, and support professional training.
*Bar/bat mitzvas.
*Dental treatment and paying for medicines.
Apart from subsidies, we give interest-free loans. In all cases, our aim is to preserve the recipients' self-respect, by making them partners in the activity.
Unfortunately, due to the very difficult economic conditions of the last few years, we find ourselves making occasional outright gifts to pay electricity, gas, etc. bills.
In general we do not work with the Absorption Centers, as they belong to the Jewish Agency, but our help is sometimes requested.
Our 2022 expenditure was NIS 229,500 ($70,750), of which less than 0.6% were running expenses (we have no paid employees).
There are about ten active Committee members, including representatives of the Ethiopian community in Safed.
