To increase opportunities for disadvantaged students from development towns, low-income neighborhoods and Arab villages. To inform and empower parents to become involved in improving their children’s education.
HILA helps parents in development towns, low-income neighborhoods and Arab villages to get involved in the education process in order to improve the quality of education their children receive. For 15 years HILA provides counseling and support to parent groups and individuals wishing to ascertain whether the curriculum of their school is meeting the official standards. HILA also provides advocacy for parents caught in the educational bureaucracy and for children who are shunted to special education classes but do not really belong there. HILA advocates educational reform through legislative and judicial channels. HILA also serves as a source of information on education issues for the media, researchers, students and parent groups.
