Kehillat Mevasseret Zion (KMZ) is a member of the Israel Movement for Progressive Judaism and provides a place of learning, spirituality, celebration and joy that is modern and fully integrated into the everyday Israeli experience.
Kehilat Mevasseret Zion is located in the Judean Hills overlooking the western approach to Jerusalem. was founded in 1993 by six families, it is now home to over 200 member families, in addition to hundreds of participants who join regularly in our multi-faceted programs, services and activities.

KMZ is led today by Rabbi Alona Nir Keren, a young and dynamic tzabar. Under her inspired guidance, KMZ continues to be a leading force in the struggle for a pluralistic, compassionate, just and liberal Israel, locally and nationally and has attracted attention as one of the most vital Reform synagogue communities in the State of Israel. A Reform Jewish presence is crucial for the future of Israel. Between a fully secular Israel completely detached from its religious roots and values, and an uncompromising Halachic state, lies a middle ground, a third way- an Israel rooted in the prophetic Jewish values of social justice, equal rights, compassion, pluralism and tolerance.

Since its establishment in 1993, KMZ has been providing Mevasseret Zion and its surrounding communities, an area known for its many different Jewish ethnicities and cultures, with a Jewish alternative that is egalitarian and pluralistic. KMZ offers a multitude of religious, cultural, social and educational activities to its members and to the broader community. Those seeking prayer services which are egalitarian and at the same time integrates tradition and innovation, will find a synagogue that offers services on shabbatot and holidays. Those seeking opportunities to study contemporary Judaism and the relationship between Judaism and “Israelism” are invited to our cultural center and its variety of courses. KMZ offers a variety of opportunities to be involved in tikkun olam and to improve the society we live in. KMZ operates nursery and kindergarten classes and a youth group in order to provide a pluralistic Jewish education to its children.
