KIEDF, an Israeli non profit operating since 1994, aspires to create employment opportunity and social equality in the Israeli private sector, focusing on economically and socially marginalized populations.
Since inception, KIEDF has provided bank guarantees to over 10,220 loans to small and micro businesses enabling ₪1.77B/$460M in credit. KIEDF developed the bank guarantee model in Israel, now since adopted by other financial organizations and government bodies. Since 2006, KIEDF has provided more than 16,500 non-bank loans combined with business services. In 2006, KIEDF developed the first nonbank micro-lending program in Israel, as a key component of our microfinance services. SAWA started operating among Bedouin women in the Negev, using the group solidarity model developed by Nobel Prize winner, Professor Muhammad Yunus from Bangladesh. After overwhelming success in the south, the program expanded throughout the country and currently provides services to diverse populations including Bedouin, Arab and Druze low income women. The Israeli Ministry of the Economy became a partner in the Sawa program for women in the Arab sector since 2011, providing 50% matching support. The Ministry of the Economy sites Sawa as its most successful public-private partnership and the most impactful program for business development.
