The Mizrahi Democratic Rainbow–New Discourse was established in 1996 by a group of leading Jewish intellectuals and social activists of Arab descent, known as Mizrahim, as a social movement and voice for the community.

The Mizrahi Democratic Rainbow–New Discourse is active in 4 main spheres: just land ownership; employment and unemployment; education, and human rights. In our 13 years of thriving activism, The Mizrahi Democratic Rainbow–New Discourse has successfully changed public consciousness and generated profound legal changes, such as 1999 Public Housing Law modification and the landmark 2002 High Court of Justice case on housing rights. Many of our activities naturally take place in academic and intellectual settings, think-tanks, the High Court of Justice, government offices and the Knesset. Yet, our members have roots in the development towns and poor neighborhoods; roots which they haven’t forgotten, nor disconnected from.
