The Shluvim Registered Association has been working since 2004 from its offices located in Sderot. The majority of its employees including office staff and therapists live and work in Sderot and the Gaza Belt area.
the Association's intervention programs for therapy and education for children between the ages of 3-12 and their families; especially among disadvantaged and high-risk populations, who are struggling with the trauma and post-trauma.
Shluvim’s principal activities are concentrated in the towns and villages of the Gaza strip area, Sderot, Ashkelon, Beer-Sheba and Ashdod. In addition to the children's daily concerns, their troubles are compounded as they must endure the tense security situation over prolonged periods in the towns and villages in the Gaza strip area.
The associated trauma of living under perpetual threat of attack has a profound and lingering impact on the Israeli psyche, with between 70 to 94 percent of children in the region diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Shluvim association offering mental support to improve morale among children, parents and those working in the education system, who are facing ongoing economic and emotional distress.
We cooperate with the Ministry of Education, the national psychological service and in the southern district, the various Health Fund organizations as well as with the Sapir Academic College, in training social work students on how to cope with trauma among children.
