Kalanit was founded in 2008 by few families in the Israeli North Negev region to provide an alternative
educational environment.
The school, called Merchav, was established in 2008 by families from the region that were looking for an alternative form of education for their children, one that focuses on arts and environmental studies. Our educational approach is centered on project-based learning and development of the kids' curiosity and creativity. The school is the center of a vibrant community with families sending their kids to our beloved school from the entire northern Negev. Kalanit is a non-profit organization whose members are all volunteers from this community.
