Games for Peace

Games for Peace is a non-profit organization, jointly managed by Israeli Arabs and Jews, who believe that online games represent an innovative approach towards establishing dialogue, understanding and trust between youngsters in conflict zones. Games for Peace uses popular, commercial video games that stimulate communication and collaboration within a virtual world. By exploiting the mass appeal of online games, and their ability to transcend physical and political limitations, our programs aim to create opportunities for a shared, positive experience between children in Israel, Palestine, the Middle East and other conflict zones. Currently, Games for Peace manages two projects. The first is the Play2Talk program that fosters dialog and trust between Arab Israeli and Jewish Israeli schoolchildren using the popular game Minecraft. The second is the Play for Peace Weekend which is a monthly virtual event in which players from countries across the Middle East are invited to play, communicate and collaborate through popular computer games from the privacy and safety of their homes.
