Amir Yardeni's Warrior's Path Farm
Equine-assisted therapy for IDF soldiers dealing with combat experiences.
Amir Yardeni, a veteran and fighter in the Egoz unit, suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder following Operation Protective Edge. The Warrior Center was established in his memory, with the aim of providing support and assistance to IDF soldiers suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, and continuing Amir's legacy - love of humanity and faith in the healing power of nature.
Advantages of the approach
Equine-assisted therapy focuses on the encounter (without riding). It is a unique model that allows for coping with difficult experiences in a non-verbal way, through working with the horse, creating an immediate connection with the animal, and restoring a sense of control and security. The horse serves as a human mirror - restoring trust, finding inner strength and reconnecting with the emotional world.
Research and many years of clinical experience show that horses have a unique ability to help people dealing with emotional crises. The horses respond authentically, without judgment, which allows for real emotional closeness - a significant advantage especially for those dealing with trauma.
How does it work?
The activity takes place in a large and adapted area, which allows for comfortable and safe closeness between the participants and the horses. The work is work that brings people closer together The horses, while interacting with them. During the sessions, participants perform individual or group tasks that simulate daily life challenges – at home, at work and in relationships.
About the venue
The center is located on the Yardeni family farm in Moshav Magdim, and includes horse stables, an auditorium, a living area, a spacious living room and workshops. The open space supports the place with the full and loving volunteerism of the participants over the years. The contribution of the volunteers allows the center to provide the treatments in a significant way, and allows IDF fighters to receive the support they need.
The center also offers horse riding treatments.
