Two years ago the Rubin Museum initiated a new educational program made possible by a mobile exhibition, designed especially for that end, and addressed to children in their own environment, reaching out to schools, preferably in underprivileged neighborhoods.



Maksam, the Gidon Association for Ethiopian Jews in Hadera, runs 4 Neighborhood Centers around Hadera, operating during afternoon hours. Beyond providing the children with a safe environment and a warm meal, the children are assisted in preparing their homework and are engaged in activities to improve their social skills and widen their cultural horizons.



Now that the school year is underway, and the 4 centers are operating, we are about to begin our program in Hadera in Mid December. We have been advised by the Maksam project coordinator, Ms. Dalia Klipper, that there is already a waiting list of children who wish to participate..
