The Israel Navy Veterans ass. (I.N.V.A) – a non profit organization, was established in 1988 by generations of Israel Navy Veterans, men and women.
One of its main goals is to preserve the Navy history, legacy and tradition, starting from the early days while small vessels and dilapidated ships tried to break the British blockade against Jewish immigration, to the homeland, which was then occupied by Britain. The commanders of those illegal immigrant ships and some of the vessels sewed the seeds to the Israel Navy. It is from that time and continuing today with a state of the art ships, the Navy is on the mission of protecting Israel shores and the sea lanes leading to it.
As an indivisible commitment to this legacy and tradition, I.N.V.A maintains strong bonds with the families who lost their loved ones in the security missions to protect Israel, as well as assisting and supporting combat soldiers needy families and helping Navy bases to reach projects that are out of their annual budget but they are needed in order to give better services to the soldiers in their military service.
In 2008 initiate the I.N.V.A together with a Navy graduate officer to establish a study program "Sea of Education" in order to help combats soldier's needy families who can not achieve education in other ways to get a profession.
Active taking part in the Friends of Israel Navy Organization is a core group of business leaders who help create a fertile ground and jobs opportunities for needy Navy Veterans.
The organization's priority project is to build a permanent facility which will be a center for its activities and social resource for navy veterans and those on duty. This Israel Navy home will be built on the present grounds of the Naval Museum in Haifa.
Running such wide range of our activities would not be possible without the assistance of those many volunteers who tirelessly give their time, and all of our friends who make financial contributions, enabling the realizations and dreams of generations of founders of I.N.V.A.
