MASLAN: SUPPORTING SURVIVORS OF HAMAS ATROCITIES IN THE NEGEV
Maslan, The Negev’s Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Support Center, has been supporting victims of sexual violence for over 35 years, providing free, confidential, expert care. Nothing, however, could have prepared us for the brutality that Hamas would inflict on innocent civilians with the October 7th massacre, including the systematic rape and sexual assault of women and men.
Today, our cases include 75 survivors of the October 7th attacks with urgent and unprecedented needs. In addition, we are seeing new appeals coming from evacuees of the south who are living in close quarters and are suffering assaults. The result is that our hotline is flooded with calls; our staff and volunteers are working under an overwhelming load. We are known and trusted as experienced, sensitive first responders to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. Today, we urgently need your support to help us rebuild the emotional resilience of survivors, their families, and their communities.
