African refugees arrived in Israel escaping war, genocide and political persecution. Many were tortured and raped on the way. Your donation will enable ASSAF to continue providing life sustaining emotional and practical support to these refugees.

ASSAF was founded in 2007 in response to the huge influx of African refugees into Israel. ASSAF believes that Israel has a moral duty to ensure the safety and well-being of those fleeing war, genocide and torture – similar atrocities to which befell the Jewish people many times throughout the course of history. ASSAF's mission is to protect those entering Israel in search of asylum, advocating for their rights on the basis of international law, and strengthening their coping mechanisms so that they can face the daily economic, social, legal and emotional challenges facing them whilst facilitating their dignified existence. Since its inception ASSAF has assisted thousands of at-risk refugee individuals, women, children, unaccompanied minors and families seeking refuge and asylum in Israel in addition to facilitating community autonomy and empowerment, advocacy and tackling policy change.
