Microfy offers professional courses, business training, consultancy services and small loans to qualified entrepreneurs to establish small businesses.
We believe that tools of entrepreneurship are the same tools that give people the ability to take ownership of their lives and their surroundings and impact change.
By supporting small businesses, we aim to strengthen local economies as well as the people themselves, reducing conflict between communities and providing more opportunities for women in these neighborhoods.
We serve two distinct populations: refugees from Sudan and Eritrea, that came to Israel seeking asylum, and low-income Israeli women, living side by side in the same neighbourhoods. As of 2015, Microfy is the only organization working with both refugees and low income Israeli women in South Tel Aviv.
How we influence? For example, two projects conducted with the Darfuri & Congolese communities, resulted in businesses such as a children's nursery, traditional African clothing store, catering and hairdressing. Not only that these businesses provide unique services to the community, they offer jobs for other individuals therefore influencing on a much broader level.
We are a non-governmental, non-profit organization, created by women and run entirely by women.
