Breaking the cycle of deprivation and providing an egalitarian framework for children and youth in the social and geographic periphery, enabling them to develop and realize their potential, so that they grow into proud and independent citizens
Since the establishment of Negba in 2006 it has run afternoon programs for children and youth in Beersheva and Jerusalem, working with municipal departments of education, welfare, and social services. • Assisting 250 members of 16 youth groups, five days a week, 11 months a year. • Providing food security with daily healthy and nourishing meals, at tables carefully laid to help instil appropriate manners and behaviour. • Promoting innovative learning methods building on the work of a learning centre for improving learning outcomes. Programmes for the group and the individual combine informal and formal approaches. • Providing children and youth with a supportive and enriching environment through activities such as: workshops in music and sport, theatre and various arts. • Creating, along with evaluation committees, a personal plan for each child and youth, with periodic adjustments. • Employing a professional, multidisciplinary team of social workers, counsellors, and national service and other volunteers. • Providing staff guidance, professional training, and regular and consistent supervision.
